A classroom is a place for pupils to learn and concentrate only on their study and not to be burdened with classroom routines like sweeping the floor or cleaning the blackboard. What do you think of this statement? Justify your answer with relevant examples. I dont agree with the statement because I dont think that classroom routines like sweeping the floor or cleaning the blackboard will be a burden for pupils. In my opinion, classroom routines create the sense of belonging within the pupils themselves that make them feel that the classroom belongs to them. They will feel secure and comfortable to have lesson in their own class that cleaned and decorated by them. Classroom routines contain some hidden curriculum such as instill moral values, hardworking and responsibilities to the pupils. Pupils learn the values

through the process of conducting their duty rosters. This kind of learning is out of the lesson and can shape the pupils behavior. Classroom routines also help in developing pupils social skills by interact with the peers during the duty roster and classroom discussion. Besides that, it can also build good rapport among teacher and pupils. Class teacher can discuss with the pupils to decide the seating arrangements of the class, the ways to decorate in order to create a class that the pupils like. This is the chance where teacher have the chance to talk to pupils and get to know them better. Other than that, classroom routines also enable pupils to participate in school day to day routines. They need to take turn everyday to make sure their classroom is clean and tidy. This can also help in maintaining the pupils discipline.
