HWK Response #5: - Last semester in my English 1101 one class, we had peer editing.

On our biggest project, I was stuck with a student who did not care one bit about the class, his work, or mine. He was just as bad as my AP English teacher in the 11th grade: marking grammatical areas, and writing two-word comments. Although my AP English teacher was never help, my 1101 teacher gave great feedback on papers on not only sentence structure and diction, but also organization of my essays. - I am worried that the group I have for my workshop wont care enough about the assignment (their own work nor the groups work). Even then, I have older roommates and an older sibling who can help me just as they did before. - Revising means changing the structure, content, and organization of your essay. Editing has more-so to do with grammar and spelling mistakes. Both are essential, but editing should be done more often than revising. Editing fixes our silly mistakes, but if you revise your paper too much, you might overanalyze and it could potentially worsen the essay. - According to Richard Straub (1999), we should Feel free in fact, feel obliged to tell the writer what you like and dont like, what is and is not working, and where you think it an be made to work better (p. 140). I think it is very important for one to not only praise, but also give suggestions to how things can be better or modified. Also, Straub (1999) gives a great reminder that Even when youre tough and demanding you can still be supportive (p. 139). There is a difference between someone being mean versus being supportive; I can definitely be critical but supportive.
