Camp Fire

Camp Fire was founded in 1910 by Dr. Luther Gulick and his wife Charlotte. The concept behind the charity is to encourage young people to shape the world. The program began for girls only and in 1975 opened its doors to males. Participants are between the ages of 5 and 17. The colors blue and red are used to represent citizenship. Camp Fire teaches leadership skills and wants to improve aspects of society that affect young people. Participants in their program learn to feel good about themselves and to care for others. On the third Thursday in March they celebrate Absolutely Incredible Kid Day in order to let youth know how much they are appreciated.
