In the next five years, banks will have to recruit almost 7.5 lakh people. There is more good news for lakhs of aspirants seeking a career in banking sector the time taken by a bank to complete the recruitment process, which was 7-9 months earlier, has come-down to 3-4 months with the introduction of the first of its kind "Common Written Examination (CWE)" in 2011. The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) conducts the CWE. This examination is the pre-requisite for selection of personnel for the posts of Clerks / Probationary Officer / Management Trainee in 19 Public Sector Banks. RRBs (Grameena Banks) to join the CWE group: The most latest entry on to the band wagon of CWE are Regional Rural Banks - RRB's (Grameena banks). IBPS, in all likelihood, will conduct a separate CWE for recruitment of officers and staff in the 82 RRBs across the country. Depending on vacancies, individual RRBs will invite the candidates who have cleared the CWE to apply for selection. List of banks participating in CWE: Except SBI, which has decided to plough its own trough, almost all major Public Sector Banks are participating in the CWE. The 19 banks which are participating in the CWE are Allahabad Bank, Andhra Bank, Bank of Baroda, Bank of India, Bank of Maharashtra, Canara Bank, Central Bank of India, Corporation Bank, Dena Bank, Indian Bank, Indian Overseas Bank, Oriental Bank of Commerce, Punjab National Bank, Punjab & Sind Bank, Syndicate Bank, Union Bank of India, United Bank of India, UCO Bank & Vijaya Bank.
