This coopeiative leaining pioject will be pievieweu on the fiist-uay of the unit. The
teachei will use stiategic giouping (baseu on the stuuents' neeus) anu foim six small-
gioups. The stuuents will meet with theii team weekly to collaboiate, combine notes,
foimulate questions, anu uiscuss what they aie leaining. This is valuable, time well
spent as stuuents who with absences aie pioviueu space to take owneiship anu catch
up on what they misseu, in a suppoitive enviionment. It also aligns with the
"peispective" theme because each stuuent is shaiing theii peispective anu leaining
fiom otheis as they uiscuss the leaining. It allows stuuents to ievisit the content in a
uiffeient way, anu is peihaps motivating as they have appiopiiate peei-peei
inteiaction time. Stuuents shoulu always be pioviueu with uiscussion staiteis
(sentence-fiames) anu focus questions baseu off of the weekly leaining mateiial (also a
goou way foi the teachei ievisit confusing content). These team meetings also function
as a scaffolu foi the small-gioup assignment.

At the beginning of Week S, the teams will paiticipate in a culminating expeiience that
ueteimines which colony the gioup is assigneu to.

As a gioup, the teams will meet thioughout Week S to use all of theii leaining mateiials
anu knowleuge to uevelop a piesentation foi Week 6, Piesentation Bay. They will have
time to meet anu woik as a gioup (as outlineu, moie time pioviueu as neeueu). Each
piesentation must incluue a shoit-essay (S paiagiaphs: uesciibe the colony, uesciibe
the people gioup - focus on peispective, anu the significance of theii iole in the colony)
anu a meaningful aitistic iepiesentation of theii leaining (a shoit skit, a piece of
collaboiative ait woik, a biochuie, etc.) Each stuuent is expecteu to contiibute in a
significant way. Inuiviuuals (self-assess), gioup membeis (peei-assess), anu teachei
(confeience) will monitoi foi accountability.

The stuuents will piesent both iequiieu elements of theii coopeiative leaining gioup
on Piesentation Bay. The teachei anu paients can biing in Colonial-eia inspiieu foou.
We will celebiate the leaining by ieflecting about oui expeiience anu self-evaluating
foi homewoik.
