According to Bryce Bird, Director of Utah's Division of Air Quality, the annual average concentration of PM2.5 at the Salt Lake City,
Hawthorne monitoring station was 12.4 in 2002 and 7.9 in 2012. This represetns a 36.3% reduction over a 10-year period. The average
reduction for all monitoring stations that monitored PM2.5 was 35.3%
Over a similar period (2002-2011) the annual emissions for Utah were reduced by 30.47% (2,544,438.86 to 1,769,191.4). Salt Lake
County reduced by 46.82% and Utah County by 39.5%. Note, Utah's population has increased by 20.67% from
2002-2011.
