DURATION: 2 hours FORMAT: Self-paced, web-based training PREREQUISITES: Basic IT experience AUDIENCE: All personnel responsible for designing, implementing, managing, and maintaining FICON solutions with Brocade products.
DESCRIPTION: This self-paced, web-based training course (eStudy) is designed to provide an overview of the mainframe environment and the FICON protocol as well as how to implement and manage a FICON environment with Brocade products. This course is intended as an introduction for students who want to complete Brocade Design and Implementation for a FICON Environment (CAF 200) as well as for students who want an overview of how Brocade supports FICON. OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course the student should be able to: Define basic mainframe terms. Indentify the characteristics of mainframe and FICON architecture. Recognize the features and benefits of FICON. Understand the relationship of FICON and Open Systems. List the factors to consider when creating a FICON/FCP intermixed environment. Recognize the functions of FICON Management Server (CUP support), and RMF to manage FICON implementations. Identify Brocade hardware and software products that support FICON.
