Assignment Requirements: ! Complete a portrait drawing using oil pastels in the Fauvist style. ! Choose a 5 x 7 inch photo of a persons face to copy and enlarge using the grid method. Remember to draw lightly so the graphite does not show through. ! Using oil pastels, add a wide variety of values and colors to create a proportional copy of the photograph. ! Your goal is to accurately render a photograph using the grid method but at the same time represent the Fauvist style by using aggressive and highly expressive color.

Criteria 2 Process- The reference photo and drawing are proportional and accurate values create a three dimensional quality. Criteria 3 Process: Color has been used to represent the Fauvist Style. Oil pastels are used skillfully and colors are blended well to emphasize form (3D quality). Color is used thoughtfully to create balance, contrast, and form. Criteria 4 Effort-Took time to develop idea & complete project. Didnt rush. Good use of class time. Willingness to work through difficult areas. Proper clean up/storage of materials. Criteria 5 Craftsmanship Neat, clean & complete. Skillful use of the art tools & media. Wide variety of values. Combined images work together well. Unnecessary pencil marks erased.
