Which to me is some of the reason why in most English classes, and in my past English class is why we have done discourse projects, because it is a big part of practicing literacy. Also Literacy practices are cultural, social and political, and also social power. Figured worlds are described as characters that are betrayed to be who they are in certain acts, or in somehow set up to be in a particular setting. An artifact is an object or material that symbolizes a particular meaning. An actor can be defined as someone who is still trying to find themselves when it comes to being literate in their writings. Figured World came off to be described as a character in the writing, but when they give examples functional illiterates, is it saying that some writers are illiterate? Can being literate vary depending on who the person is? I being literate to my parents may not be the same as being literate to my professor. Whats the difference from New Literacy Studies and the one before?
