13 Each year, more and more students with disabilities are coming to college. All colleges should understand that not all students thrive in the classroom setting alone. Everyone benefits when accommodations are made to help students learn and work to their fullest potential. For example, students with disabilities make higher graders when they are accommodated for their disabilities. By providing disabled students with all the help they need, colleges even the playing field between disabled and non-disabled students. Therefore, allowing students with learning disabilities to work toward a college degree without the hindrance of having a learning disability. Not everyone agresses with this view, some people argue that accommodations are not fair for the students who do not qualify for them. This argument misses the point. When colleges welcome and support students with disabilities they ensure that the accommodations are fair to the other students while providing maximum benefit to the disabled students. For this reason, colleges should continue to provide accommodation for students with disabilities while remaining fair to students who do not qualify for them. However, the possibility of offering more support to non-disabled students may help increase the fairness of these actions.
