Conclusion and recommendation

Based on the objective of this experiment, the conversion at different residence time was determined. To determine the concentration of NaOH exiting the reactor at different flow rate, the calibration curve of conductivity vs concentration of NaOH was used. From the observation of the result obtained, as the conversion is increased the time is also increase thus showing conversion has linear relationship to time. The conversion of flow rate 50mL/min are higher than 100 mL/min because of residence time 50mL/min are longer than 100.L/min. Aside from that the higher values of conversion caused reaction to occur more in the reactor. Thus the, higher the conversion, the more reaction can take place. Aside from that it can be conclude that the higher the conversion of reactant will lower the value of CA and the value of k will increase when the value conversion is higher.

During conducting the experiment they may have been several error that can affect the result later on. The common errors while doing this experiment are parallax error. This happen when measuring the amount of ethyl acetate where it may not according to specified volume. In order to overcome this, while measuring the liquid proper measuring vessel must be used. Aside from that the digital flow rate meter happens to be broken, where it does not shows the flow rate clearly. This will eventually affect the result where the flowrate can be maintained and be tracked during the experiment. The digital panel should be fixed in order to control the flow rate even better.
