To whom it may concern: Jenny Pallesen was a PSIII intern teacher at St. Marys School in Taber from August 27 until December 20, 2013. During this time Jenny taught Math 8, a combined Math 20-1/Math 20-2 class, and a junior high exploratory. From the beginning Jenny developed a positive classroom environment that allowed students to feel safe and to freely participate in classroom discussions and other activities. She established strong relationships with students such that they were quite willing to approach her for individual help and her strong rapport with the students was also evident outside of class time. She was often seen stopping and chatting with students in the cafeteria. From a professional standpoint Jenny was very well prepared for her teaching assignment. She demonstrated that she already has the ability to plan and implement effective lessons with appropriate objectives. Her knowledge of the content she was required to teach was exceptional and this allowed her to be confident in her own ability. She was the best intern teacher I have had in this regard. Her strong background in mathematics will serve her well as it makes helping students so much easier. It also ensures that the students respect her as a teacher. Outside of the classroom Jenny was involved in the leadership club and helped coach basketball. She was willing to give of her own time and the students she worked with really appreciated her commitment. Overall, I think that Jenny did an exceptional job while at St. Marys and I would have no hesitation in recommending her for a teaching position. She has already demonstrated that she has the necessary skills and commitment required to be part of the profession. Further classroom experience will simply allow her to polish these skills and if she receives such an opportunity, she will undoubtedly be successful.
