The Amazing Fitness Challenge has begun!

Dear parents and guardians, Hopefully your child has told you about The Amazing Fitness Challenge that has started for grades 1 to 5 at The Stewart School for the second year. The purpose of the program is to promote physical activity in young students, and enhance awareness of the impact that fitness and activity have on health throughout their lives. Almost 200 eager students will meet in their fitness groups to create a team name and poster. The 20 teams will be led by amazing grade 6 leaders and helpers, and we know that our first fitness challenge day will be a great success! The 10 fitness challenge stations for the month of April all involve JUMPING! Some examples of this months stations are jumping jacks, squat jumps, split jacks, jumping over a line, standing long jump and wall jumps. The students from grades 1-3 are challenged to complete 100 repetitions of each activity, while grade 4-6 students need to complete 200 repetitions by the end of the month. Mays challenge is to complete 5 km run around the school in a month. Finally, Junes challenge will be a mix of outdoor activities to increase fitness levels. Once each challenge is completed, students will receive a key chain to go on their backpacks and will earn a different fitness tag (neon shooting star, 5k charm and blue running shoe) each month. This reward was made possible by the Stewart School Council. You can help at home by asking your child to demonstrate some of the jumping activities and joining in with them! Thanks for your support in promoting fitness in our community! Mrs. Bell and the Stewart School Team
