Blocking Google Talk and Chat

Go to your Windows system32 folder. Typically it is located under

Windows\System32\drivers\etc\

Locate hosts file there. Open it with a text editor like notepad.. and add the following entries

127.0.0.1 127.0.0.1 127.0.0.1 127.0.0.1

talk.google.com talkx.l.google.com chatenabled.mail.google.com talkgadget.google.com

talk.google.com, talkx.l.google.com in the file with block Google talk desktop client while chatenabled.mail.google.com will prevent chat from appearing in Gmail. talkgadget.google.com will prevent iGoogle chat gadget.
