March 29, 2014 To Whom It May Concern: It is with great pleasure that I write this letter of recommendation for Jaclyn Hathaway-Rube. Jaclyn has been working at Hudson Memorial School as a foreign language teacher for the past three school years. During this time, I have had the chance to get to know Jaclyn as a trusted colleague and have come to admire her dedication to her craft. As a classroom teacher, Jaclyn is always striving to create a love for language in her students. The creative activities that she has developed show the care and planning she has taken to create meaningful opportunities for her students to learn. She is forever exploring ways to use the technology that the middle schoolers love to make her lessons relevant and appealing to this difficult age group. When the students leave her classroom at the end of the year, they take with them a digital portfolio that represents their growth through the year and pride in all they have accomplished. As a colleague, Jaclyn is a team player. She is always looking for ways to help other teachers in the building. I have often witnessed her jumping in to help another teacher with their homeroom or giving up planning time so that teachers can have bathroom breaks during standardized testing. Her willingness to give up her time without being asked shows that she values her place in the teaching community and it explains why so many teachers feel a strong sense of rapport with her. As a professional, Jaclyn not only sets high standards for her students but also holds herself to that same high standard. She is not afraid to ask questions or seek counsel from others. It is obvious that she endeavors to be the best teacher that she can be and is always looking for ways to improve in all aspects of her teaching. Jaclyn Hathaway-Rube would be a tremendous asset to any school.

Sincerely, Susan Vivian 8 grade language arts Hudson Memorial School
