Apprentice Teaching in Secondary Mathematics and Science Dear Students, Parents, Guardians, We are again at the beginning of a new

school year and I would like to welcome you back. My name is Kathleen uefle and I will be your Geometry !onors teacher this year. I hold a Master"s Degree in Secondary Math #ducation form the $ni%ersity of &lorida. 'he (hiloso(hy I bring to teaching is that in order for math learning to occur, the students must e)(lore the math and (ractice with it until they are comfortable with the conce(ts. My classroom may be a bit different from other classes. I will be doing a fli( classroom. In this set u( students will be e)(ected to take notes from a (ower (oint or a %ideo (osted on the class website and then come in the ne)t day ready to (ractice with that knowledge. Students are e)(ected to ha%e access to a de%ice that has internet in order to get to the notes. 'his will be their homework most of the time, unless it is before a test or re%iew then they will ha%e some ty(e of re%iew. 'he notebooks that they will be taking notes in will be graded (eriodically and count as a homework grade. 'here will be three (ro*ects that will count towards their grade as well as tests and +ui,,es. -n e)act break down is included in the syllabus. Students will be e)(ected to follow the classroom rules and (rocedures that I will set forth in the ne)t cou(le of days. .ot following these rules will be dealt with in class. 'he basics are that students are e)(ected to ha%e a (encil and (a(er with them in e%ery class. -ssignments, tests, and +ui,,es will not be graded if they are not written in (encil, unless otherwise s(ecified. -ny more ma*or (roblems could result in me calling or emailing home. Please feel free to email me with any +uestions or concerns in%ol%ing this class or your student. My email is km,uefle/att.net and I will try to res(ond to you within 01 hours. &inally, donations are always welcome2 We are at a (ublic school so anything from school su((lies 3(encils, (a(ers, dry erase markers, etc4 to household su((lies 3Kleene), (a(er towels, 5loro) wi(es, etc4 are welcome. I would also lo%e to ha%e guest s(eakers in the classroom if any of you are (rofessionals in the math and science fields that deal with geometry.
