Instructions and Guidelines 1. Using the guidelines in Chapter One, create a long-term, mid-term and short-term goal in at least three categories. Categories might be Health & Fitness, Education, Career, Romance, Spirituality, Wealth, Travel, Hobbies etc. 2. Each goal should be only one complete sentence. 3. Your short-term and mid-term goal in each category should be benchmarks towards your long term goal. Your goals in each category should correlate with each other. 4. Your long-term goals should be compatible. The achievement of one of your long-term goals should not prohibit the achievement of one of your other long-term goals. 5. Your goals must follow the SMART guidelines which are: Specific (How much? How Many? To what standard? ) Measurable (Can your success towards the goal be effectively determined?) Achievable (Is the goal something you have control or influence over? Do you have the needed talents, skills and resources to accomplish the goal or can you get them?) Relevant (Will it make a difference in your life?) Your goals should be positive. 7. Your goals should be personal. Motivational authorities recommend that you write goals as though you have already accomplished them. Use present tense. 9. It is recommended by some that goals be written using action verbs rather than passive verbs (am, be). 10. Complete the following template and submit it.

Narrative Statement: (How will your life look when you have achieved this long-term goal? This
will help you determine relevance and establish motivation.) I will feel and be more professional in the job, maintain my head up high, knowing that I achieved it, made it through college, and graduated. This will give me the motivation to keep climbing and working my way up the ladder of life. I feel that I can give my future kids more of a chance to go to school than what I had and encourage them through. My parents never encouraged up to go or taught it would be what we wanted.
What obstacles will you need to overcome or what are you willing to sacrifice to achieve your long-term goal? (This step will help you determine achievability.)
One obstacle that I would have to overcome would have to be my job cutting hair I have done ti for ten years and still like it, that I am at right know. I really love what I am doing I do not feel that I can climb any higher than where I am at. I know that I can always us my skill. I am not making enough to survive.
I deserve this goal because: (This step will help you bolster your motivation.) 1. I want more in life then a dead end job.

Long-Term Goal Statement: To have a house of my own

category.) 1. Pay all my payments such as bills, rent, car payments.
2. Pay on time 3. Make money to pay my bills 4. Schedule in advance on what I need to do this 5. Budget
Narrative Statement: (How will your life look when you have achieved this long-term goal? This
will help you determine relevance and establish motivation.) Having that long term goal to look at knowing that I will get my house some day is a big motivator to me. Because I do not want yours, his or hers I want my own home.
What obstacles will you need to overcome or what are you willing to sacrifice to achieve your long-term goal? (This step will help you determine achievability.) When times get hard and money is not flowing in the bank like planned really makes life hard. When things come up like the cars breaks down , or a medical emergency accrues.

category.) 1. Complete school 2. Become healthy 3. Want to settle down 4. Get married 5. Become pregnant
Narrative Statement: (How will your life look when you have achieved this long-term goal? This
will help you determine relevance and establish motivation.) I will stay in good shape by working on staying active in a healthy, learning new ways to eat healthy. I will also work on finding someone that I can raise children up in a healthy environment. When I complete school would be a prime time to look into having kids. Then I can focus on school and classes that I am currently in.
What obstacles will you need to overcome or what are you willing to sacrifice to achieve your long-term goal? (This step will help you determine achievability.) Thing that I sacrifice are friends, time I would spend to raise the little monkeys. Time to help them with school and support them in hard times and good spending money on things that they would like to learn to play and achieve like violin.
