Nutr 409 Reflection Statement
Nutr 409 Reflection Statement
It has continued the practice of NCP notes, which depending on my career path, I will most likely have to do on a daily basis as a dietitian. We also performed case studies that coordinated with the material being taught in nutrition 408 to reiterate what we learned and put it into practice. The case studies were also presented as real patients, forcing us to read medical charts and determine what conditions are indicated from that information. The most interesting part of this class though was the field trips. It was so exciting to see real practicing dietitians working in different careers within the field of dietetics. It made me aware of my options as a registered dietitian, some of which I had not previously considered. Speaking with the dietitians about their job duties and responsibilities also opened my eyes to certain careers that I thought I would have liked that I do not think I would and also careers that I had never thought of that I could see myself doing very successfully. Our portfolio project in this class was an effective project and a rewarding experience. It was rewarding to look back at all the nutrition related work we have accomplished throughout the DPD program. In addition to being rewarding, the portfolio is a great tool to have going in to future interviews and applying for internships. Professor Rupp, being the DPD director, was extremely helpful in this class. She has great connections and insight into the field of nutrition. Her advice has been invaluable and she has helped me be successful thus far.
