I am a Caucasian female, my name is Jane Hancock, and I am also 65, which is official senior citizen status.

I am feeling the effects of being a Senior Citizen. I am going to write a letter to Sen. Bernie Sanders, Vermont, because I feel that he can make a difference for us seniors through his advocacy in Legislation. I will also attach a YouTube video, for you to see the Senator in action. Letter Writing, Advocacy- Getting Ones Voice Heard (Segal, 2013 p.374).

Dear Sen. Bernie Sanders, Vermont, I am writing you out of concern for the proposed cuts by Congress in Social Security with regards to the OASDI, Medicare, and Older American Act. These proposed cuts come at a time when we the Senior Citizens are having many financial and insurance issues. I have been following you diligently in the news and I feel that your advocacy for more funds for Senior Citizens has been amazing. You have great ideas including seeking to reauthorize the H.R. 3850 Older American Act, whose overall goal was to create a governmental agent to coordinate the various existing services and create a new way to better serve older people (Segal, 2013). I implore that you continue to do everything in your power to increase the funding and resources needed to help Senior Citizens. Thank you for your consideration, I look forward to continued information on this important issue (Segal & Brzuzy, 1998). Sincerely,

Jane Hancock Jane Hancock 411 Important Issue Lane Detroit, MI. 48227
