Professional Responsibilities Ethics (J) Standard 1.

10 The educator shall be of good moral character and be worthy to instruct or supervise the youth of this state.

Good moral character is not something that I want to have once or twice in my life, it is a way of life. Living everyday as an example to young people is something that I consider to be of utmost importance and I must be aware of it every day. It means telling the truth at all times. It means guarding my words so that what I say has meaning and virtue. I am going to conduct my life inside and outside the classroom with a thought for how I would be representing myself to my students. By living a life of strong moral character, I can bring good moral attributes into the classroom, and set an example for the students. Students follow role models and mimic them as they develop into young adults and adulthood. I want to bring to my classroom an example of someone who tells the truth, uses words as a tool to further education, and behaves with an attitude that displays goodness and ethics inside and outside the classroom.
