Object Self Portrait

Watercolor
Definition: An object self portrait is a portrait of you without directly showing yourself. It can be a collection of objects that have special meaning to you, and even some part of your image hidden amongst them. The Objects: Choose 3-7 objects that you associate with your identity. The objects should collectively show whatever you feel is part of your identity. You must be able to transport your objects to and from school, so choose sizes accordingly. The Painting: Using the artists process of working through sketches to a final product, create a 9 x 12 watercolor object self portrait. This assignment will require you to paint directly from the object rather than from a photo reference.

The Artists Statement: You will write an artists statement to accompany your piece. (See back for an example.)
