portfolio. The assignments made me look at what I thought was a rather benign subject and realize the importance and effect popular culture can have on society as whole. It has made me realize that popular culture has a large effect on how people act and behave. As a person who is still trying to figure out how to be an adult, it seems that it is an unspoken rule that I am supposed to care more about global issues and things that happen on the local news and focus less on who wore what better. However, while pop culture is focused largely on younger generations, it should be something that all generations pay attention to because it shapes who we are as a whole. It has more impact on people than it should. This whole inquiry project and setting up this portfolio has made me realize this. I think this course has really helped me improve my writing as well. Mostly because we did so much of it but also being given the opportunity to write about topics that interest me allowed me to find my own voice while writing. I think it is important to have your own voice because otherwise it leaves papers boring and like you are just spewing out facts.
