Appointment of a new Principal for Greenfield Community School

Dear Parents, We are delighted to announce that Andrew Wood has been appointed as the new Principal of Greenfield Community School. Andrew will succeed Angela Hollington, who leaves our school this summer for her new post as Principal of a school in Berlin. Andrew has been Principal of the International School of Hout Bay in Cape Town, South Africa, since July 2009. Hout Bay is a non-selective all through school offering the International Baccalaureate (IB) at Primary Years Programme and Diploma level. During his tenure, Andrew has led the school through the IB authorisation process and it is currently assessed as outstanding in accordance with the Independent Quality Assurance Authority and the countrys regulator of schools. Prior to this role, Andrew worked at Hilton College, and at St Marys Diocesan School for Girls at Kloof, near Durban, and he was the Founding Principal at Seaforth College in Ballito. He has presented IB papers at The Hague and has worked as a consultant with the IBO, assisting The British International School in Stavanger with their application for IB authorisation. A committed educational leader, Andrew has co-authored a number of books on Geography and Natural Science for Oxford University Press and he is an active member of the Independent Schools Marketing Association. Andrew is married to Karen, with two children in University, and he is a keen mountaineer and leader of the local mountain rescue team. Andrew will be visiting Greenfield Community School week commencing 30th March and is looking forward to meeting students, parents and staff before he moves to Dubai and starts work in August this year. I trust you will join me in welcoming Andrew to our school and to the family of Taaleem in Dubai. We are most grateful to the whole school staff who have contributed to and supported the recruitment process to ensure we have the very best successor to lead our school into the future. We will have the chance to acknowledge Angie properly before the end of this academic year, but I would like to take this opportunity to thank her for her hard work and commitment to the position as our Principal and to wish her every success with her new school. Yours sincerely, Ros Marshall, CEO Taaleem
