Daily Production Journal 13/03/14 Today I filmed with my group members/crew; Akza Gigi and Farhia Osman, I also

filmed with our actors Pelumi, Amina and Plange. Today we filmed our opening sequence we focused on filming the beginning of the sequence making sure every possible camera shot and movement was used for each shot we filmed so that we could avoid having to re-film any scenes later on. We also recorded a 3 minute wildtrack of the park so that we can use this for some sound editing and for our opening sequence. Other sounds we recorded today were our actors footsteps and theyre running. A problem we faced during filming was the memory capacity of our memory cards for the DSLR camera we were using to film. We filmed too much and werent reviewing our footage every time new footage was being recorded so it took us a while to go through everything and delete footage that didnt work. To ensure this doesnt become a problem for future filming we plan on reviewing everything we record straight after its filmed so that there will be extra space. And Ill also bring another memory card, just in case. Today I used a range of skills. I used organization and time management skills, I had to make sure we were working on time and had to make sure everyone knew theyre job roles and what they were meant to doing, also I had to make sure actors/actresses received their scripts. I also gained technical skills from setting up the equipment for example the sound recorder we were using was not recording properly and I had the task of making it record properly. I think we worked really well as a group, we helped each other when in doubt for example Akza director of photography had trouble focusing the camera so relied on me and Farhia for a second conformation that the shot looked okay. Today I learnt how to focus a DSLR camera using both manual and auto focus, I learnt how to set the white balance. 14/03/14 Today I filmed with my group members/crew; Akza Gigi and Farhia Osman, I also filmed with our actors Pelumi, Amina and Plange. Unlike yesterday, today we focused on filming the chase scene of our sequence we dedicated a whole day to filming this particular scene of the film because it is the most important. A problem we faced during filming today was lighting we had a late start to the day and we were using natural light, light from the sun, as a light source for our film. Filming late meant that our footage was darker. To resolve the problem I think we should have considered using artificial lighting and next time film earlier in the day to get better lighting for filming. Today I learnt how to set up a tripod correctly using a compass. I also learnt how to smoothly pan a camera to follow a movement, fast or slow. Today I used both creative, technical and organizational skills. I had to come up with creative ways in how we could film an effective chase scene.
