Name of Activity: UV Tag / Extra Lesson Plan TEKS: K.1A, K.5A, K.7C, 1.5C, 2.5A, 2.5C, Objective: The objection is the learn about UV rays and how can you protect yourself while doing movements Suggested Grade: K-2 Material Needed: 10 - 15 Ribbons (the ones that go around the waist) Number of Student: 10 -15 students Class Formation: Students are going to form around the gym, in a circle. Description of Idea: Students will form in a circle around the gym. The teacher will ask what is UV rays, and how can you protect yourself from UV rays. The two students that raise their hand and answer the question correctly must get in the middle of the circle. The students that are around the circle get a ribbon. The ribbons mean that they are protected from the UV rays from the sun. The teacher can explain the many ways you can protect yourself such as sun screen, long shirts, hat, sunglass etc.. The students that are in the middle are the UV rays. As soon as the teacher said go the students around the circle must run away from the UV rays (the students that were in the middle), The UV rays must grab the ribbon from the student and take it off. That means that they are no longer protect from the UV rays and have to stay still till the other UV rays grab a other ribbon from a another student. After the two UV rays got they ribbons they have to say Ha, Ha, Ha, I got your sun blocks and they have to wear the ribbons because they are now protected from the sun and the other two students that dont have their ribbons are now the UV rays. The game starts over with the student with ribbons around in a circle and the UV rays in the middle.
