Whitten Clymore Elementary

Fluency Minilesson In this minilesson I will be working in a small group and we will be focusing on expression. I will choose a few poems that will help them with expression. When I do the lesson I will let the students look at the poems and choose which one they would like to read. To assess how the students due I will use Ms. Whittens Fluency Rubric that she gave me. Objective: To work on expression Group Size: There will be 3 students in the small group. Introduction: Today we will be working on expression. Expression is the act of making your thoughts, or feelings, known by speech, writing, or some other method. To do this we will read poems. Pick one of the following poems to read to the group. I will model what it sounds like to not use expression and then I will reread the poem using expression. Now it is your turn to read your poem to the group using expression.

The Principal Is Missing By: Kenn Nesbitt

The principal is missing. Hes nowhere to be found. The teachers tried to page him, and theyve hunted all around. He isnt in the staff room. He isnt in the gym, and all the kids are wondering just whats become of him. Weve looked in every classroom. Weve peeked in every hall. We even checked the bathrooms and inspected every stall. He isnt in his closet. Hes not behind his door. He isnt underneath his desk or hiding in a drawer. If you should see our principal, please send him back to school, and tell him we apologize. We know that we were cruel. Please tell him that we miss him. Were sorry we were mean. But tell him next Saint Patricks Day he needs to wear some green.

Parent-Teacher Conference By: Darren Sardelli

At the parent-teacher conference, my father made a scene. He scared my fifth-grade teacher, with his mask from Halloween. She showed him all my science grades and said she was concerned, but he just stuck his tongue out when my teachers back was turned. He drew a monster on the board and claimed it was her twin. He even shook her soda, which expolded on her chin. My angry teacher crossed her arms and said, This meetings done! I now see where he gets it from you act just like your son!

Im Staying Home from School Today By: Kenn Nesbitt

Im staying home from school today. Id rather be in bed, pretending that I have a pain thats pounding in my head. Ill say I have a stomachache. Ill claim Ive got the flu. Ill shiver like Im cold and hold my breath until Im blue. Ill fake a cough. Ill fake a sneeze. Ill say my throat is sore. If necessary, I can throw a tantrum on the floor. Im sure Ill get away with it. Of that, theres little doubt. But even so, I really hope my students dont find out.

A poem by Mrs. Bergerons and Ms. Sheridans classes:

The Fifth Grade Talent Show Tim can wiggle both his ears. You probably shouldnt try, cause when he flaps them very fast, he soon begins to fly. Tyler likes to cross his eyes. He soon is going to find, that if he crosses them too much, the poor kid might go blind.

A poem by Mrs. Fouracress, Ms. Doerrs, and Ms. Forresters classes:

Mary Had A Monkey

Mary had a monkey. The monkey had no name. The monkey was so friendly, because he was so tame.
