Assessment Assignment I looked over and evaluated an assessment given to all the students for an individual profile of progress. Its over each unit they have over the school year, and is charted. They are given an A for adequate progress, which the test wants to see. An N for not making adequate progress, this one tells the teacher what she needs to work on more with the student(s). Finally an N/A for not assessed, this tells the teacher that the student or students did not learn anything from a certain section. The purpose of this assessment was to evaluate the students on how well they have mastered time, solving multidigit addition/subtraction problems, world problems, solving a comparison situation, Greater Than/Less Than/Equal To symbols and how to use them, making ballpark estimates, and using arrays to model multiplication. This test was written as a summative assessment, because they have to show what they have learned throughout the following units given to them. I think that this assessment matches the purpose of it; the teacher gets a good idea about the skills mastered in this test, based from the categories she has written out. The assessment could be modified to fit a special needs student by adding in multiple choice so they know 4 possible options it could be, and the oral part of the test could be carried out more so they understand what is on the test more and better. I think it would also prepare them more if the test was all spoken to them one time before given to them, so they know what to expect and can handle it better. If the test wasnt time, I think that a special needs student would do better knowing they arent under a certain time limit and can take their time on the test. I think that this test is great, it really shows how much the students have learned and what skills have been mastered over the units. I think that it is written out well and gives good simple directions that are self-explanatory and arent too difficult for the students. If I could change one

thing about the assessment, and knew of a section that they had a difficult time on I would put in more problems. This way, I can get more feedback about if I need to work on that part more with future classes.
