Danielle Tritt Writing Prompt #2 Raymond 23 January 2014

Names that last a lifetime When it comes to naming children, it all depends on what kind of culture the child is born into. In many families today, names are past down generation to generation to keep a certain name in the family alive as long as possible. There is no-one, certain name in my family that has been passed down. However, my first name (Eva) was passed down from my most colorful relative, my moms Nanny (Dollie Eva Hill); and my middle name (Danielle) was passed down from my daddy (Harley Daniel Tritt). My dads middle name was passed down from his dad (Herbert Daniel Tritt), who goes by Dan. Besides middle names being passed down to a couple of generations, there are no other names that have actually lived generation to generation in my family that I am aware of. Although my moms name was not passed down from anyone in her family, her mother did not name her; her aunt did. I found this very interesting. She has always been really close with her aunt, just as she was with her nanny, who I am named after. While there is no certain name passed down through her family, there is still a strong connection between each of them. I found that my first name, Eva, is the Hebrew name meaning "life" or "living one." It can also mean full of life or mother of life. It is the standard biblical form of Eve in many European languages. While Danielle means: God is my judge in Hebrew, American, and French. The book of Psalms 75:7a; 77:14 states, But God is the judgeThou art the God that doest wonders: thou hast declared thy strength among the people. Lastly, I found that Tritt

means: to step in German. Before this assignment, I had never looked up what my name means. It was very interesting to do some research, and I cant wait to find out more.
