Dhaka (Bengali: , pronounced: [aka]; English /dk/, /dk/; formerly romanized as Dacca[5]) is the capital of Bangladesh. Located on the Buriganga River in the heart of the Bengal delta, Dhaka has an estimated population of more than 15 million people, making it the largest city in Bangladesh and the 8th largest city in the world.
