The weighted application evaluation is conducted by first assigning numeric values to key positions and then ranking qualified applicants based on their weighted scores. These values correlate to the skills, knowledge and abilities that are needed to perform a job. It helps in differentiating between the successful and unsuccessful candidates. Data obtained from these forms may also be used to obtain other information such as equal employment opportunity/affirmative action information, reference information, and other details on which to focus during the further selection processes. It is also a cost effective tool that can help in reducing turnover. (Beall, 1991)
