Speech 06-10037 10 April 2014 Soft Chalk Lesson (Reasoning) In this weeks first soft chalk lesson, I learned that there are four main topics in reasoning. 1. Inductive Reasoning- in this area, the person is trying to draw their conclusion from what they are trying to accomplish. For example, the waves from the beach are enormous. That wave was enormous. Therefore, all the waves from the beach were enormous. 2. Deductive Reasoning- in this area, you are trying to make the other believe in what you are saying is true. For instance, the Lakers are world champions. Kobe Bryant is a Laker. Therefore, Kobe Bryant is with the world champions Lakers. 3. The Toulmin Model- I had no idea that this model has the claim as the main point of the arguer. There are also three different types of claims for making an argument: The Grounds, The Warrant, and The Backing.
