Crystal LaFreniere Biology 1010 (Tuesday/Thursday 5:30pm) 4/24/14 Observation Paper I chose to observe in the park near buy

my house. In the park there is a small creek running down the center. At first all I could hear was birds chirping, and families playing on the other side of the park. After a while I noticed that around the creek there were little bigs flying around, they looked to me like tiny little fly like things. They flew into my face and were generally annoying. A fire bug scurried by with another big attached to its back; I can only assume that these two little bugs were in the process of matting. A bird landed on the path a path way next to the creek, it picked up a small stick and flew off. My assumption is that the bird was collecting supplies for a nest. Along the creek there was tall grass like weeds with little seed tuffs at the top. The trees around the creek were small and looked like they had recently been planted, probably by the community center near buy, they look to me like acorn trees, but are too small to have the acorn nuts. I tried to see if there were any fish in the creek, but from what I could see there werent. A little further upstream I did find a group of water birds. Ducks, swans, geese and other species that I dont know what to call them; the geese seemed rather irritated with my presents and started doing a war dace, flapping their wings, stretching their necks, and screaming at me. Not wanting to get a goose bite I chose to walk away.
