The figured world I am observing is the UNCC Car meet, held every Tuesday from 8-10P at the north

side !ar"ing de#"$ The !ur!ose of the #ar meet is for all the #ar

enthusiasts of UNCC and the surrounding areas to meet in a safe environment without fear of being "i#"ed out by the !oli#e, whi#h ha!!ens more often than not$ The #rowd that goes to these meets are ty!i#ally 18-%& year old men who all have a !assion and love for #ars$ There are many things to do, when it is ni#e out, however, tonight was free'ing$ (s I wat#hed I saw many !eo!le in grou!s of about )-*, they+ll usually stand at one #ar and then ma"e their way around the !ar"ing de#" to view all the others$ Usually there+s one #ar that grabs everyone+s attention, tonight it was a 08 (P% ,onda -%000, #om!letely built and made for the ra#e tra#"$ .hen the weather is ni#e !eo!le usually bring out their folding #hairs and some !eo!le bring their hoo"a+s with them and all gather around and /ust en/oy being in the !resen#e of the #ars that bring us all together$ There are many things not a##e!table at the meet$ ( !erson may not burn out, two-ste!, !ar" outside of designated !ar"ing, ra#e, bring drugs, leave trash, and the list goes on and on0 for good reason though$ Normally, from !revious e1!erien#e, !eo!le have trashed !la#es we all meet and they do the things that are generally not allowed and get everyone "i#"ed out$ .hat is a##e!table is to !ar" and hangout with the !eo!le that are there and tal" amongst them to find out new things or #reate other so#ial a#tivities that involves the same grou! of !eo!le$ Usually there are grou!s of different !eo!le, not everyone "nows everyone, or at least I do not2 for now$ .ithin the !o!ulation that goes to the meets there are four that I saw that ran the meet, his name was Peter, he was very ni#e and wel#oming$ I feel li"e he would be the one to tal" to whom ever, or the other three that he wor"s with, would ma"e the final de#isions on someone getting "i#"ed out

or giving out warnings$ They basi#ally !atrol but they are #ar guys too, they are one of us and we res!e#t them be#ause of it$ It is hard to #ome u! with a dis#ourse #ommunity that would fit every !erson at the meet$ I would imagine that the most basi# grou!s I #ould #ome u! with would be im!orts, !eo!le who have #ars that are brought from other #ountries, versus the domesti#s, !eo!le who have #ars that are made in (meri#a by (meri#an brands$ These !eo!le are ty!i#ally very different in ideals on what #ars should be$ There+s also the ageold argument with form over fun#tion, ie$, -tan#ed #ars, #ars who+s wheels are flush with the fenders and lowered versus 3ra#e #ars,4 the #ars that are lowered and internally built, most of these #ars are not as !retty as the stan#ed #ars are but they have a lot more !ower than the stan#ed #ars$ ,en#e form over fun#tion or vi#e versa whatever you !refer$
