Big Understandings Matter is important in everyday life and can transition from a solid to liquid and gas and vice versa. Humans use matter every day in a variety of ways

Using activity sheet to identify/explain what they learned in their group setting. This activity sheet will assess the students knowledge of matter and its many forms and how we use it every day. Each group will have the activity sheet and fill out together as a group. TLW describe the 3 kinds of matter.

Opening Hook
States of Matter Rap Video Instructional Strategies/ Student Activities Write questions on bulletin board. Print activity sheets for each group. Students will break off into groups and cut pictures from a magazine and glue their pictures to the appropriate paper. Ex. Glue to solid, liquid or gas that is on the board Rethink: investigate the different forms of matter and how we use it everyday Students will self-assess their work and knowledge on the activity sheets Materials/Resources Matter Video, Activity sheets, magazines, ice cubes, cup, computer with projector to show animation Grouping Patterns Cooperative grouping Ending, Summary/Reflection Reflect upon and share with your groups, ways that different forms of matter are used in your everyday life.
