INTRODUCTION Lesson Objectives & Essential Questions LO: Participants will gain an understanding of what differentiation is. LO: Participants will explore new methods for differentiating in the classroom. LO: Participants will successfully develop one differentiated lesson for their classroom. EQ: What is differentiation? EQ: What are ways to differentiate? TASK(S)

1. Review the definition of differentiation. Discuss with the participants what differentiation is to them. Also, get a feel of how they differentiate in their classroom. 2. Review templates and new methods for differentiating. Get feedback on which ideas they like/do not like. 3. Have teachers create a lesson of their own. Which do they like best? Which would work best in their classroom with their students. ACTIVITY/PROCESS Powerpoint Presentation Differentiation Discussion What is differentiation? Discuss how it can be applied in real classroom settings Discuss definition as defined by Tomlinson How to differentiate in the classroom Discuss 4 ways to differentiate Discuss examples of the 4 ways as applied to a real classroom Decide what we will need within the sanctuary to keep the animals healthy Determine what funds are available to help us design and build our sanctuary Strategies Discussion of strategies Get participants to describe how each strategy might be effective in the classroom View examples I created which I have used in my classroom Our final product Participants create their own lesson using a differentiation strategy. I will be available to assist and discuss which might work best in their classroom.

CONCLUSION Wrap-Up Review what differentiation is. Have participants share what kind of lesson they have completed, and how they intend on implementing it into their classroom.
