Baseline Plan for Meeting Students Learning Styles

Basic strategies to use during whole group instruction Visual Allow visual learners to come up and highlight important information on Smart Board slides. Provide graphic organizers for activities and utilize the Smart Board effectively Provide paper for note taking when reading, studying or completing a test, or working out math problems. Auditory Prepare lessons paying careful attention to the words being used when describing or defining a concept. Video tape myself to evaluate the effectiveness of my words when teaching. Allow time for the students to share ideas about concepts and talk through the problem they are working with. Kinesthetic Create foldables for students to use as a study guide.

Create a math notebook.

Give students brain breaks in between Reading, Language Arts, and Writing.

Plans for this weeks specific content knowledge and strategies Math Give each student a number line to work with when discussing positive and negative integer addition. Create foldables for each math concept being tested. (multiplying and dividing decimals, finding lines of symmetry, translation, rotation, reflection, equivalent names, addition of positive and negative integers, angles) Use geometry boards to make shapes and discuss whether they are symmetric or not. Reading Cause and effect ball toss (kinesthetic learners) Give sticky notes to take notes during re-reading. Have students record what stood out to them and questions they had during both readings. Analyze the effectiveness of reading over a text twice. Read passages that discuss theme. Highlight passages that hint at a books theme. Pull themes from a hat and decide which one fits a passage the best.
