PROFESSIONAL COMMUNICATION:

I communicate with professional peers locally during the following: - Professional development - Professional learning community (PLC) - Faculty meetings - Literacy committee meetings - E-mail with fellow staff members I shared the following evaluation/portfolio tools with peers to help enhance student learning: In our school we have clickers. For certain lessons I have made up pre-test and post-test quizzes the students can take using the clickers, while looking at the Smartboard. These clickers make the tests easier to grade because the computer keeps track of all the students answers. I have made quizzes on Kahoot.it. This site allows you to make quizzes for students but the students do not have to sign up for an account. They get an access code that goes with given quiz for the day.

I shared the following multi-media tools with peers to help enhance student learning: - www.animoto.com (create introduction videos) - www.linoit.com (visual vocabulary) - http://screencast-o-matic.com/ (create videos) - www.prezi.com (create lessons)

I shared the following school management tools with peers to help enhance student learning: - I use Weebly to create a class webpage for parents and students to access the expectations of our classroom. - I also provide my parents/students with a weekly newsletter. The newsletter keeps them up to date on current events, weekly homework, and spelling words for the week.

I communicate with professional peers in other countries by - Edmodo I have used Edmodo to talk to teachers in other countries about how they use technology in their classrooms/schools. - Email I have used email to talk to a teacher, who works in Norway, about her use of technology in her classroom. - Pinterest I have used Pinterest in order to find lessons about different types of technology or different content areas used in other countries.

Below are the following ideas that I was able to get from professional peers in other countries: - One really neat idea I got was from a teacher in New Zealand. She integrates Google Earth with Prezi. They fly to birth places of different mathematicians!

COMMUNICATION WITH PARENTS:

I communicate with parents about technology that I use in class by: o Weekly newsletters o Classroom website o Open house (at the beginning of the year)

PD/In-service:
The following details my PD plan: Before I start the PD, I will first discuss with my colleagues the importance of teaching social, ethical, and legal issues and responsible use of technology ( I will use the following site to do this: http://www.slideshare.net/Mrs.Faust/teaching-ethical-and-legaluse-of-technology-in-the-classroom). Next, I will share information (in handout form) about copyright laws when it comes to images, music, video, and other digital resources (I got the copy from http://www.copyrightfoundation.org/files/userfiles/file/EducatorsGuide.pdf). This PD is presented from a Prezi presentation. - First I start the professional development with an introduction of what digital storytelling is. I will answer the question, What is digital storytelling? - Next, This PD will tell the teachers about the site: www.zooburst.com (a picture will be provided). - Next, the teachers will be able to see an example of a digital story that was created by me. I will also cover the benefits of using digital story telling in the classroom. - Then the teachers will learn some resources to help them create a digital story on Zooburst if they are having difficulty figuring out how to use the site.

I incorporated the following concepts in my PD: - The importance for teaching social, ethical, and legal issues and responsible use of technology at the school/classroom level. I taught this by showing the teachers a slide show about social, ethical, and legal issues with using technology in a classroom. - We will then discuss information about copyright laws related to use of images, music, video, and other digital resources in varying formats. We will look at a handout that talks about these issues as an educator
