The Distance Formula

The right triangle in the distance formula can easily be transplanted in the circle below!

Connections d = r = AB (0,0) = (h,k) = B (x,y) = (x,y) = A

The formula used in the standard form of an equation (above) looks exactly like the Pythagorean Theorem, which also includes the right triangle!

The Pythagorean Theorem

Each of the visual representations is depicting a different mathematical concept including the distance formula at the top, the equation of a circle in the middle, and the Pythagorean Theorem below the connection key box. Using the connection key makes it easy to recognize the similarities among the sides of the different visual representations. Each concept is different in form and function, but with minimal algebraic adjustments it can be transformed into one of the other two concepts. The standard equation of a circle I provided serves as the perfect example. It begins exactly like the distance formula but with different variables, and with the center at the origin it is transformed into the Pythagorean Theorem (with different variables).
