Professional Development

Down Syndrome Workshop: (April 2014) This workshop presented the education of
Down syndrome students from both a teacher and a parent perspective. It offered several strategies to implement into all classrooms to allow the effective inclusion of all students in the general education classroom.

Redfield Music Contest: (April 2014) This middle school contest allowed me to observe
several area bands as well as accompany several students and help them prepare for their solo performances prior to contest day. It also provided excellent management and leadership development as I was in charge of several students and schedules.

SDMEA Conference: (2011, 2012, and 2013) Located in various locations around the
state, this conference offered several workshops geared specifically toward music education. They also hold Collegiate Day, which is geared specifically toward college students earning their degree in music education. The strategies and techniques developed from this conference are invaluable to my teaching philosophy today.

Belgian Clarinet Academy: (Summer 2013) This week long intensive allowed me and 15
other students to work with three world class clarinetists from around the globe while building my extended techniques, performance skills, and leadership skills through master classes, private lessons, and daily practice and performance.
