The Wipro Guide on Outsourcing


Case summary:
Wipro is a famous an IT (Information Technology) consultancy and supporting firm. McHaggle, using Wipors IT support and consulting firm for over five years, asked Wipro to send 100 employees to Glasco. Ramnamurthy, from Wipro, told that Wipro would consider the proposal and further told that it would less costly to hire 100 employees from Glasco.Mr. McHaggle said that if they wanted to hire employees from Glasco then why they came to Wipro.

Business Challenge:
The client was challenged with several issues while trying to optimize its business processes. Wipro identified the challenges that needed to be addressed including Create an outsourcing solution that allowed focus on strategic aspects of the business Improve agreements with vendors to leverage more benefits Improve utilization of working capital to maximize business returns Streamline contract management process Drive greater compliance, control and management of indirect spend Optimal utilization of ERP to improve process efficiency and effectiveness

Wipro Challenge
Based on the McHggle's requirements, Wipro suggested process optimization, part of its outsourcing solutions. Wipro's outsourcing focuses on key aspects at the intersection of IT and business requirements that lend themselves to rapid improvement with a minimum pay-back period in order to optimize Performance and Capital Efficiency. Wipro met the client's immediate business requirements in four phases, Wipro recommended the outsourcing of certain business processes including Procure-to-Pay activities, fixed asset, and reconciliation and reporting. A business transformation study was carried out with the following activities Assessment: Wipro carried out a review with process owners which helped the Wipro team get a clear understanding of the existing business processes and technology. Analysis: Each process was studied and gaps and pain areas were identified and documented. Based on benchmarks and best practices, an optimal solution was designed.

Report out: Process improvement and transformation opportunities were identified with business benefits and future state process maps created with hand offs and control points. Wipro provided support for the ERP applications including customization, upgrade, maintenance and optimization.
