Reflection IEP for Student R The annual IEP for student R has problems in social connections and language

arts. This annual review was to look at planning for the 7th Grade with his mother, social worker, special needs teacher, math teacher, social studies and language arts teacher, and myself. Mother was introduced to me and she brought things I had

mentioned in my introduction slides to the middle school classes.

He works well within groups when invited by other students, but does not make an effort to socially connect with other students. He does work well with his grammar pages this year when a timer is on his desk. Student R also does his spelling pages orally with my coach or myself. A problem in looking to the future of 7 th grade is ability to complete the homework, he had major problems with 5th grade workload and 7th grade may have the same effect on emotional and stress levels in the student.

Student R will have to continue with reading due having problems with spelling words and language skills. At times he uses he is tired when being required to complete needed classwork. I think the key to this students success will be adapting language arts assignments to shorter easier assignments, spelling tests (shortened form) like half the words, given class assignments in modified versions, and close individualized teaching and assessment (one on one). He has done well with this type of instruction and modified assessment this year and should be continued next year.
