Joilene Sandoval Matt Upson UL 100 24 February 2014 Fashion Fashion is the popular trend in apparel that is accepted by large numbers of people at any given time (Fashion, 1). The world of fashion can be influenced by culture, personality, society or social class. Fashion has existed in our world for decades. The style of dress is peoples way of making a statement and expressing themselves. Styles are changing constantly in regards to clothing, accessories and footwear. Weather is one of the reasons for change, but so is the fact that there are different personalities and new ideas floating around. The world of fashion has positive and negative sides, but I would like to learn more about the negative consequences. One aspect I am interested in is in the eating disorders caused by how and what the media is portraying fashion. Eating disorders would include bulimia, anorexia, or binge eating. Women and teenagers seem to be affected more by this constant need of following the popular trends. My process of researching began by constructing a concept map with the help of an ESU database called Credo Reference. A concept map is an excellent tool when beginning research to get subtopic ideas. Further, I would use databases such as Wikipedia to build a foundation of information about the topic. I would use the ESU databases and the library catalog to find specific research on fashion. Having a variety of reliable sources gives a research paper credibility and professionalism.
