Assignment: To create an outfit out of unconventional materials that might otherwise be thrown away, recycled, or considered trash. Steps to Follow: 1. Choose groups of 2 and brainstorm possible ideas for your sculpture. 2. Select recycled materials to use provided by your instructor and bring in additional materials (trash) on your own. 3. Brainstorm individually for possible uses for your chosen materials. Each student will complete a sketch showing their ideas and point of view. Each sketch should include a front and back view. 4. Brainstorm as a group, sharing ideas and sketches. Each group should create a final sketch to base their design off of along with a checklist of items needed and tasks to complete. A timeline should also be created to assist in time management. Group will meet with instructor for critique before sketch is approved. 5. Its time to get to work! Students will work as a group to construct their garment(s) out of recycled materials following the requirements given below. Grading will be based on both group work and individual contributions. 6. Aside from working as a group, each student is responsible for completing an accessory for the outfit. This accessory will be an individual grade. 7. As the outfits are completed, model fittings will be necessary to ensure a tailored fit. Rubric: GROUP GRADE: Materials were recycled and repurposed in a creative and interesting way using various sculpture techniques (10 pts) Outfit must be made of 90% recycled materials (10 pts) Recycled materials were repurposed or redesigned in a way that hides their original identity (10 pts) Outfit is wearable and functions as clothing (10 pts) Degree of difficulty/ambitious design (10 pts) Outfit is neat, professional and complete (10 pts) Good teamwork, worked well as a group (10 pts) INDIVIDUAL GRADE: Time on task/good attendance (10 pts) Your contribution to the group and project as a whole (20 pts)
