Anna Hase Genre 1 English 1101 The Money Makers Setting: What we know as Madrid Spain, 70 million years

ago Grandino, I am feeling sad, Rex cries to his Gradfather Dinosaur Rusty. Oh Rex, cheer up. Rusty is one of the oldest and wisest in the Tyrannosaurus family. He was very passionate about his familys culture and values, and suspicious about the cave men that stayed hidden in the dark. Sometimes we just need a little love and attention to put us back in a good mood. I need one of your bedtime stories; and a time machine because I want to know what life is like for the dinosaurs in the future! Rex eagerly replied. This wish caught Rustys ear because of his insight into the future. He had a vision when he was younger that the dinosaur species would one day be vanished, and the land they concurred now will be taken over by the cavemen. He continued to get visions about what this world would be like, and was dedicated to putting the pieces together for this potential future world. Rusty looked back at Rex, and began to share his wisdom. Far into the future, there was a land taken over by humans that had been influenced by hardships, breaking discoveries, and advanced technology. They roamed our planet earth, but it looked nothing like the green, spacious, jungle we wander today. Instead of rivers and trails, there were roads, and large metal objects that transported the people around their developed villages. The younger people didnt have to spend their days hiding in caves and collecting food, but instead they attended a large institution called school for most days of the week where they are taught information. They learned about our times, which was irrelevant ancient history for them. They learned how to use the equations the people created in the caves, but had devices that could solve problems for them. Parents dont teach their kids to do the important things like helping someone in need, but instead they tell them not to talk to strangers. The people of this time have been blessed with knowledge that is destroying their trust, and technology that is disabling their imagination. During these times we will be long gone. They will try to justify our extinction, and dig up our bones, but they will never find the carefree feeling we carry within us every day. Rex looked up to Rusty with a terrified look on his face. Grandino, I do not understand. What is going to happen to you and me? How do the humans take over when they always hide from us? Why.. Shhhh, Rusty cuts off Rex. No more questions. Nothing is going to happen to you, me, or anyone from our pack. This is just a story, and I want you to just listen. That was the end of Rexs questions. In his time, the young would never dare to question or disobey anyone older than them. Time will no longer be relative. They wear jewelry that reminds them the hour, and carry small advanced figures that keep them digitally informed. The children that are brought into this world are not taught to fend for themselves. Instead of training their children and taking them under their wing parents are more focused on an idea that defines this new time; money. Time and money are two things

that dont exist in our world, but control theirs. While we spend our days becoming stronger, more skilful, and more bonded with our pack, they waste their away tracking time to get more money. They hide their skin from each other with cloth that has a deeper meaning than its purpose. The money makers label themselves with these clothes, and walk through communities knowing what they wear will be noticed. They find happiness in their money, and dont trust others with it. They are traumatized by times that dont exist for us. A sense of entitlement and selfishness slowly takes over humans in the 20th century, and they are the only ones to suffer from it. When the sun starts to go down, all I can think about is gathering my family together under our big oak tree. These humans work hard to have huge houses that are more than enough space for them and their loved ones. They come home to these houses at the end of their days and stress for the next. The young ones each have their own room, filled with toys to pass the time and furniture to store their belongings. Our land flows together with the packs that unify our community, while their houses stand alone, reflecting the income of the family inside. The ones with bigger houses are more envied. Life isnt as simple for them. If theyre born into a family with little money, it sets them behind from the next young born into one that is rich and powerful. Children are growing up in a world where the way a person looks and what they are wearing is the first thing taken into account during a new introduction. Money defines the way people spend their time, and sometimes who people become friends with. The children from these big houses are spoiled with cars, nice accessories, and extra spending money that bond them with the others who have inherited this luxury. These humans have lived through times where the idea of equality was unimaginable, and the money makers still have trouble embracing this word. The less rich are sometimes looked down on, given lower expectations and less benefit of the doubt because of the image they hold. The vision I have for the earth is scary and will hopefully never come. Rexs eyes started to close and Rusty ended his tale on a happy note for his young to fall asleep to. I hope the dinosaurs will live on forever and pass down our morals and way of life. But if for some reason we do not, and our world is left in the hands of humans, I pray they dont lose sight of the path civilization could go down. When you think our world is chaos, remember our sense of peace. When you think our world is violent, realize that is the way we feed ourselves and our families. When you think our world is empty, think about the money makers and the emptiness felt despite their industrialization. Rex laid there fast asleep as Rusty made his way to the bank right next to the big oak tree. He took a sip from the clear water as it made its way down the river before he too went to bed on the edge of his sleeping family. They had predators in their world he had to protect against, and it is always the oldest mans duty to keep safe all his young.
