Jeff wall-was born September 29th, 1946 Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada To make this picture they first

had to construct a room which was self-reliant, not inside a real house, decorate it in such a way that a womans bedroom would be and destroy it in every way possible, they did all they could to destroy every last piece of the room. The image is in color and uses the same color scheme of the original painting, using red and green; the image only consists of the room itself as if the viewer had just walked in to find the room this way. The immediate mood that this image gives off is negative as it triggers memories that the user may be able to relate to, perhaps being broken into in the past or being struck by a natural disaster as this is what the room looks like. The reason this image gives off such a negative feel is that your bedroom is the place you feel safest when you sleep at night, its the place when children go to protect themselves under the bed or the blankets and to see it destroyed is taking away the security that they have in the own home.

In this picture is a room that has been put together and destroyed to the best of his ability, this was a bedroom and has been wrecked almost as if someone who had a grudge had broken in and done everything in there power to wreck everything in sight. This is a modern replica of 18th century painting The Death of Sardanapalus 1827 by Eugne Delacroix, which originally was very exaggerated. The story behind this photograph is the same of the painting, which depicts the Assyrian monarch on his deathbed, commanding the destruction of his possessions and slaughter of his concubines in a last act of defiance against invading armies. The photograph has not been framed and it was the intention of wall to allow the user to feel as if they had just walked in on the room, there has been very little editing in this image as that would make it unrealistic, It is a fairly well lit up image allowing for the viewer to see all that has been destroyed.

This links to my project about pyromania and the destruction of fire as this picture was inspired by me as it shows destruction, as Jeff wall was inspired by the 18th century painting which shows destruction, we have both put our own take on the piece and related it back to personal memories and emotions that are triggered when we see the images and especially the aftermath, for someone seeing Jeff walls piece it may resemble a memory of them getting broken in, for someone looking at my own version it may resemble a house fire that took away a loved one and now lives a completely new life because of it.
