March 18, 2014 To Whom It May Concern, This is an application to join your teaching staff. I completing my student teaching at Sand Creek High School, in Sand Creek Public Schools and approaching graduation from Adrian College. As of May 4, 2014 I will have my Bachelor of Arts in Spanish with a Minor in Physical Education. My strong integrity, and passion for educating and helping students not only Spanish, but in any area of life where I may be of assistance, could be a great asset to your school system. Prior to my student teaching I spent a semester abroad in Granada, Spain, where I completed 15 credit hours at the Universidad de Granada. The opportunity was a great experience because it forced me to leave my comfort zone and apply my knowledge of the Spanish language in a real world setting. While living abroad I gained an insight and newly found respect for the Spanish language, and also for the culture and the way that one sees the world through their own language. As a part of my time at Sand Creek Area Schools I was able to instruct different Spanish classes which the students where at various levels of Spanish. I implemented different activities that enabled the students to interact with the language in ways that appealed to multiple different intelligences. In my instruction I also placed an emphasis on modern culture and relevant issues within the Spanish-speaking world. In the Spring of 2013 I was able to gain experience in Spanish instruction at the elementary level through a pilot international baccalaureate program within the local elementary schools. Working with younger students and introducing them to Spanish language was very rewarding allowing me to implement a number if different instructional methods. The program was a success in exposing students to a foreign language at a younger age, and creating an excitement among the students for learning a new language and culture.
