The Stanford University Office of Undergraduate Admission Alumni Volunteer Relations Team announces the following opening: Admission Counselor 62570
Description Reporting to the Assistant Dean of Admission for Alumni Volunteer Relations, the Admission Counselor is an integral member of the Office of Undergraduate Admission professional staff charged with the management of the alumni volunteer program (65% time). As such, s/he will work primarily within the Alumni Volunteer Relations team supporting the alumni volunteer program that includes: applicant interviews, college fairs, information session panels, and admitted student receptions. The focus of this work is on volunteer relations and the coordination of events and activities. Secondarily, s/he will be involved in recruiting, selecting, and yielding, the freshman and transfer classes: reading freshman and transfer applications, and fulfilling general admission officer responsibilities, including serving in a public relations role with prospective applicants, parents, and high school guidance counselors, both in the office and on the road (35% time).

Qualifications Bachelors degree required; advanced degree and 1-2 years of job-related experience desirable. Keen interest in alumni management; basic knowledge of and experience in higher education admission work; service orientation; organizational and technology skills; excellent oral and written communication (including editing); project management skills; ability to work as part of a team as well as independently; ability to make fine distinctions among competitive applicants; sensitivity to multicultural and socioeconomic differences; good judgment and quick thinking; ability to maintain confidentiality; a contagious enthusiasm for and belief in the value of a liberal arts education and Stanford. Must be able to travel throughout the year, including weekends and evenings.
