Cultural Groups
Culture, language, ethnicity and race are powerful influences on an individuals values, beliefs, and behaviors, but they are not the sole influences. Ones socioeconomic status, education, socialization, and life experiences greatly influence ones identity and frame of reference. These, in turn, influence how a family functions. (Interactions)

Language

ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE Also known as English for speakers of other languages (ESOL), English as an additional language (EAL) and as English as a foreign language (EFL). We at the Latisha School will be introducing a new program called English as a Second Language as a school-based program. We will facilitate workshops where we will bring in translators and English reading and writing specialists to teach the English language, not only to our students but their families as well. This program is being implemented to improve student success but also to break the cultural barriers due to language. The program will consist of six sessions needed in order to receive a certificate of completion. All families whos first language is not English is welcomed to attend.
