MOLARITY:Another way of expressing concentration, the way that we will use most in this course, is called molarity. Molarity is the number of moles of solute dissolved in one liter of solution. The units, therefore are moles per liter, specifically it's moles of solute per liter of solution. Its formula is,
Molarity= Moles of solute Liter of solution

So when you see M or M it stands for molarity, and it means moles per liter (not just moles).

NORMALITY:Normality is another way of expressing the concentration of a solution. It is based on an alternate chemical unit of mass called the equivalent weight. The normality of a solution is the concentration expressed as the number of equivalent weights (equivalents) of solute per liter of solution. A 1 normal (1 N) solution contains 1 equivalent weight of solute per liter of solution. Normality is widely used in analytical chemistry because it simplifies many of the calculations involving solution concentration.

MOLARITY DEPENDS UPON TEMPERATURE:In case of molarity the concentration of solution is expressed in terms of volume which change with the change of temperature. Hence molarity is DEPENDENT of temperature.

Molarity=

Moles of solute Liter of solution

Molality independent upon temperature:In case of molality the concentration of solvent is expressed in terms of mass. The mass of substance is not affected by the change in temperature. Hence molality is independant of temperature.
