THESIS STATEMENTS

What are the different facets of coffee other than to be the most popular source of caffeine? Coffee house is a place for social networking but also for acquiring or sharing cognition. Coffee production influences the economy of a whole country, and sometimes it can connect or divide small communities.

Thesis statements are sentences that you put at the beginning of an argumentative or exploratory paragraph. They are meant to introduce your paragraph to the reader and give him/her a foretaste of what you are about to say. Those sentences must be as specific as possible but not that detailed in order to let you with something to say afterward. In fact, in my case, I tend to say everything in my opening assertion and therefore tend to sound repetitive in my explanation. Thesis statements are also meant to pick the readers interest. This is the most challenging part because those sentences form the cover of your paragraphs. And since people judge books by their covers, you have to create an attractive one for what you have to say. In addition, you have to be aware of your audience; some of them may read only the first two sentences and the last two ones. Thus, you are aware they need to be interesting and concrete at the same time. The first of my thesis statements is less a thesis assertion rather than a guiding question. I admit that I prefer that one because its more general and feel that the reader is going to learn with me as I move forward in my paper. Since I have any specific stand about my topic, it would be better to discover things together with the reader. However, the other ones are more explicit and could be a different way to start my paper. In fact, I could begin with a determined point of view of my topic and then move deeper or to a different aspect using connection words. Thereby, it will keep persons who are familiar with my topic from being bored.
